The International Museum of Art is sad to announce the passing of Mrs. Deane G. Miller. Mrs. Miller, a native El Pasoan was known as “The First Lady of the White House Department Store,” for all the support she lent her husband, Dick Miller, in running the store. Mrs. Miller was deeply involved in the El Paso community, writing columns and volunteering.

She was a generous benefactress and a driving force behind the Museum. She served on our Board of Directors for many years and donated much of her personal art collection to the Museum.

She passed away at 98 years old. We are blessed to continue her legacy through the preservation of our historic home, support of local artists and through our growing international collection. Mrs. Miller’s elegant portrait is on view in our Parlour, that is named in recognition of her. You can read more about her life here.
