Barry Martin is our September 21 , Wednesday, presenter in watercolor. Wear “clothes for doing art in.” It will be a hands-on meeting. We will meet at 10:30 am at the International Museum at 1211 Montana. He will have you painting, rehearsing to paint and practicing your craft.
Barry Martin is a self-taught artist though he has attended national portrait conferences in his adult life. As a child he was sickly, asthmatic and often bedridden or not in school. He found an outlet in charcoal, in pencil and in both art and music. Drawing from the time he was five and being a professional musician since seventh grade, he is an awarded artist in his own right. He is a Luthier, he builds guitars and restores them as a second generation craftsperson. His first portrait commission was at the age of eighteen. Barry went to UTEP for two years in art studies. He has been in business restoring guitars for forty-five years. He plays piano for Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. At the age of 69 he does not see himself retired.
