The International Museum of Art is thrilled to showcase Vanessa Clark’s “Tour De Ceramica,” from August 5-26. This exhibit features artwork created by youth who attended her ceramic camps across El Paso this summer, along with her own sculptures. Art by other instructors David A. Beattie, Phillip Romero and Leticia Luevanos will also be displayed.
“Tour de Ceramica” is a program created by Vanessa Clark Designs with support from the Museum and Cultural Affairs Department and National Endowment for the Arts. Reflecting on her program, Vanessa shares that “it has been a wonderful experience seeing the kids work with clay and express their creativity. They …have a sense of pride with their art pieces and I can’t wait for them to see their finished glazed artwork at the International Museum of Art.”
Vanessa K. (Zavala) Clark is an El Paso native; she is influenced by the natural world around her and the merging of cultures across the U.S./Mexico border. Some of her most recent work includes a bus wrap done in collaboration with El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department and Sun Metro for the “Meet Me in the Arts District” campaign. Her design features cacti, piñatas and the hands of two people reaching out to each other in vibrant blues and greens.
