Community Showcase: Living With Those Who Came Before
Celebrating Culture, Family and Ancestry with Sue Koenig’s Window to the World and Unity Through Creativity

 

The International Museum of Art invites you to explore its exciting new collection, Sue Koenig’s Window to the World with an Open Call to Artists. Featuring 10,000 items, representing over 30 years and 110 countries and, Window to the World explores life across the globe and cultural diversity through artifacts, musical instruments, art, clothing, jewelry, and household items.

Living With Those Who Came Before hopes to honor this collection by reflecting on Sue Koenig’s dream for her collection: to build respect and understanding through the exploration of culture. This community showcase will highlight themes of culture, identity, ancestry and family. Living With Those Who Came Before recognizes the people, places and histories that have shaped each artist and how their art reflects their heritage.

Eligible artists 12 years of age and up are welcome to submit up to two (2) works they believe best captures their creativity, artistic merit and vision. Submitted works may be done in any medium but must represent themes of culture, identity, family and ancestry. Family portraits, works depicting cultural celebrations or reflections on ancestry are encouraged. Art featuring themes of travel and exploration are also welcome.
